"A blessingway is an old Navajo (native American) ceremony, which celebrates a woman's rite of passage into motherhood."
Last weekend we celebrated my second pregnancy with an intimate blessing way. If you have never heard of one, I highly recommend you look it up and seriously have one for your current pregnancy or your next one to come! I've attached a link to check out- it gives more info on what a blessing way is and why women do it- https://www.bellybelly.com.au/pregnancy/blessingway-what-is-a-blessingway/
My six close friends, my mother and Sarah York from Springs Doula Circle were in attendance. I was so blessed with wonderful friends (whom are photographers) that didn't mind bringing their camera and snapping some photos of the festivities! We started off with my henna piece, Sarah is truly such a talented artist! I'm in love with how it turned out.
We shed many tears sharing stories and connecting in our circle of sisterhood. I had a wonderful foot soak using the epsom salt bowl that my wonderful friends made for me. All of my friends brought a sentimental bead which I later strung into a necklace. I've hung up my affirmations and truly feel my birth space has so much positive energy. I had many fears going into my home birth and my blessing way really helped get rid of these fears and bring positive energy into my birth space/home.
Thank you Danica from Danica Donnelly Photography for capturing these images- I will truly treasure them for a lifetime. I truly still am on cloud nine from this wonderful event. I feel every mother should experience a blessing way whether they're doing a home birth or not. You get to connect the ones you hold close to your heart in a way you never imagine. Thank you to all my wonderful friends for making this so special for me. I am so blessed!
