Birth Photography after baby #2?!

September 1, 2017

This questions arises a lot, "What about birth photography after baby #2 arrives?"... SO I've given it some thought and decided a blog post is a fun way to share what I've decided to do!

As my due date slowly creeps up I get more and more excited to welcome our second child earth side. As many of you may know I'm due in October with our second baby girl.

I have decided that I will be slowly easing back into birth photography. It has been weighing heavy on my heart that I won't be leaving just one, but two of my babies at home and that's huge. I've decided to take on one birth client a month, limit myself and my workload so I can give my 100% to those who hire me. That way I can still fulfill what my heart yearns to do- photograph births.

Birth photography is just a lot for a new mom, heck any mom for that fact. The on-call aspect is what is hardest, and especially when you're taking on clients in bulk. One birth client allows myself time at home, time to focus on other sessions and still have time with my babies. I definitely want to pursue other sessions and find my passion for other types of photography again, get creative. It's a lot easier setting sessions with a time and date in my calendar than being on call from 37 weeks- 42 weeks. That being said, I'm excited to take on more maternity and lifestyle newborn clients. I love documenting families and especially mothers, being able following them through the journey into motherhood is such an honor.

I can't imagine ever giving up photography, and I'm anxious to see how things pan out once my daughter is born. Thank you everyone for the continued support! I am so grateful and blessed I get to continue to do what I love.
